We are thrilled to be performing our Alchemy of Ancient Song Roads program again in Canberra - this time with the addition of a new composition. We have partnered with the wonderful Drill Hall Gallery, ANU as part of our Ensemble-in-Residency at the ANU School of Music..
The new work responds to the beauty and subtle grandeur of a lancscape painting by the renowned artist John R Walker, whose immersive responses to nature mirrors our own approach to creativity. We have been creating our new music in his studio in Braidwood, with the painting in the Drill Hall, and in natural spaces.
We are also looking forward to talking to the artist at the Drill Hall a week before the concert. You are welcome to join us for this free talk on Sunday, November 16th, 4-5pm (please register on the Drill Hall Gallery website).
The Drill Hall Gallery is a beautiful ambient space with a perfect acoustic for our music in this concert, which we have composed in Iran, Armenia and Canberra. This is also a precious opportunity to hear our new composition with the painting itself, “Driving the Badja Road,” in the gallery. It is currently being showcased as one of the major works in the Drill Hall, for its current “Conjunction.” exhibition. We are looking forward very much to seeing you at one or both events!
